BIO
I’m an old school transformational actor. I come from what I like to call the “Gary Oldman - wigs and accents” school of acting. I was built to be one of those actors who always asks, “who and what do you need me to be.” That’s my brand. I want to investigate the endless possibilities of the everyone and the everything. I want to gain as much intimate knowledge of each character through deep empathy.
I was raised in Georgia, and through education and employment, I’ve lived all across the Southeast, Midwest, and Northeast. I have a B.A. in Theatre from Brenau University, and a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from the Yale School of Drama—where I studied with the late Master Teacher, Earle Gister. I kicked it in Chicago for a few years and almost twenty in New York City.
Some of my New York credits include "Hamlet" at Classic Stage Company, "Someone Who'll Watch Over Me" with Next In Line Productions, Understudying the Hanlon brothers in Martin McDonagh's Off Broadway hit "A Skull in Connemara" at The Roundabout. Other Off-Broadway work includes "New Work Now: Reason for Leaving" at The Public Theatre. I was fortunate to collaborate with many cutting-edge “downtown” productions such as: "Unbound"," Man Is Man", and "Spring Awakening" with Prospect Theatre Company. I got zany as Harpo in "Duck Soup" produced and directed by Will Frears. I spent some time with Clubbed Thumb doing "The Train Play", "Down Winders", and "Beach." Regional work includes "Ironbound" at The Kitchen Theatre. "Or, What She Will", "Pride and Prejudice", and "The Foreigner" at The Hangar Theatre. "Gin-Jazz-Love-Drama", "The Sleeping Girl", and "Owed to my First Love" at the Stamford Center for the Arts. Finally, "Measure for Measure" at The Yale Rep and "The Dumbwaiter" and "Seven Blowjobs" at the Yale Cabaret.
Some On-Camera stuff: Most recently "Bad Things" opposite Gayle Rankin and Molly Ringwald directed by Stewart Thorndike. Other on-camera work includes "Louie", "Boardwalk Empire" (opposite Steve Buscemi and Shea Whigham), "The Sopranos" (opposite James Gandolfini), "Law and Order", "L&O SVU", "Lipstick Jungle "(opposite Brooke Shields),"Firefly and the Bride", "Lonely" (PBS short), and "Four Fists of Rage" to name a few. I’ve done several student films, PSAs, and industrials. I've also written and produced the web series "Meantime" on Vimeo.
Currently, I live in Greenville, North Carolina where I’m an Associate Professor of Acting at East Carolina University’s School of Theatre and Dance.
